The Ministry of Water and Irrigation (“MWI”) and the Water Authority Jordan (“WAJ”) have approached the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the “EBRD” or the “Bank”) to support the preparation and financing of Design and Construction of West Irbid Wastewater Treatment Plant and Siphons, including design, procurement, construction, erection and testing, commissioning, operation, training, etc.
The treatment plant will serve the West Irbid Wastewater Networks Project which is under construction and covers 17 towns within the municipality of West Irbid namely, part of Natfeh (un sewered part), Kufr Yuba, Zahar, Jumhaa, Ham, Bayt Yafa, Soum (un sewered part), Jijin, Doughara, and Kufr Rahta, and Al Wastia Municipality namely Kufr Asad, Qumm, Qumaym, Kufr An, Saydour, Hofa Wastia, Kharaj and Greater Irbid Municipality for part of Natfeh village, and includes 7 pumping stations distributed in these towns. West Irbid Wastewater Networks project divided into (7) packages, in which:
- Five (5) packages (namely package 2,3,4,5, and 6) include only wastewater networks.
- Package 1 consists of 4 pumping stations and force mains.
- Package 7 consists of 3 pumping stations and force mains in addition to wastewater networks for three out of the 17 towns.
The sewer networks include Corrugated HDPE/ pipelines of about 460 km, ranging in design diameter between 200 and 600mm, 600m DI pipelines of 200mm nominal diameter, 950m steel pipeline of 200mm nominal diameter; 8km of DI force mains ranging in between 150 and 300 mm; and approximately 80 km of house connections of 160 mm HDPE pipes.
